What we aim for

We build CraftVenturous to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a working target. We’re not claiming formal certification — we’re a very small operation and an audit like that is beyond us. What we can tell you is what we actually do and what we actually measured.

What we do

• Colour contrast. Every text colour on the site is checked against its background for AA contrast. When we last audited this we found 28 failures and fixed all of them, including muted caption text and the counts on filter controls.
• Keyboard. The site is built from real buttons and links, so everything reachable by mouse is reachable by keyboard, with visible focus.
• Structure. Pages use proper landmarks and a sensible heading order, so screen readers and reader modes can navigate them.
• Images. Photos carry alt text, and decorative brand graphics are marked as decorative rather than announced.
• No motion traps. Nothing auto-plays, flashes, or moves in a way you can’t stop.
• Text scales. The layout is responsive and reflows rather than breaking when you zoom or enlarge text.

What we measure

We run Lighthouse accessibility audits on mobile against the live site and treat a score below 95 as a bug, not a nice-to-have. At our last check every page scored between 98 and 100, and contrast passed everywhere. Automated tools only catch a fraction of real problems — a perfect score is not the same as a usable page — so we treat these numbers as a floor, not proof.

Where we fall short

Being honest about the gaps is more useful than a clean claim:

• We have not tested with real assistive technology users. Our testing is automated plus keyboard checks by hand.
• Some pages carry large filterable lists that can be heavy on modest devices. That affects everyone, but it affects some people more.
• Our blog runs on separate software (Ghost) with its own theme, so it may not match the main site in every respect.
• We embed maps and link out to third-party sites. We don’t control their accessibility.

If any part of this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please let us know — tell us the page and what happened, and we’ll fix what we can. If something is blocking you from reading a review, say so and we’ll get you the content another way while we sort out the underlying problem. We read every message and we don’t treat this as a complaints process.
